AOF attends Sixty-sixth Annual State Leadership Conference 2016 for the Florida Chapter of the Future Business Leaders

This year’s Sixty-sixth Annual State Leadership Conference 2016 for the Florida Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America was held in Orlando from March 11-14.
FBLA works as part of the instructional program of the business education in high schools around Florida. FBLA students compete at the District, State and National level for business events such as Business ethics, Accounting I and II, Job Interviews, Parliamentary Procedure, Business Plan and many, many more.

The schedule of events ranged from workshops to competitions to district meetings to general sessions. Those who took part in the conference varied from districts to high schools even to students, many of our very own Academy of Finance students attended this event in the midst of those included was rising senior Osmani Alegre and graduating seniors Allie Herrera, Marisel Lavazzari and Lucas Serau (as pictured above). These individuals and the other 58 students who attended the conference placed at the district level or were selected as a voting delegate, they were given this amazing opportunity to show off their skills and get the feeling of what it feels like to be at the States level. The theme for this year’s conference was “leaving a legacy”. Graduating Senior Kaitlyn Smith (pictured on the right) and among others left their mark on the stage proudly representing Coral Gables Senior High Sunday night.

At the conference students also had the chance of hearing Kaitlyn Roig, a Sandy Hook Elementary teacher, talk to all FBLA members about her organization Classes4Classes. As of next school year, Gables will be switching districts from 26 to 25.

We are extremely proud of our chapter and officers for all the hard work put into making this a successful year! Go Cavs!
